Exclusive Shore Event: Cartagena | Haute Cuisine Inside World Heritage Walls
Cartagena boasts the most extensive fortifications in South America; its entire harbor, fortress system, and numerous monuments have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Discover many of its highlights on a walking tour of Cartagena de Indias, the walled Old Town. Wander this maze of cobbled streets and squares, lined with well-preserved colonial buildings and bougainvillea-covered balconies. Visit Iglesia de San Pedro Claver, a 17th-century church dedicated to the Spanish monk who devoted his life to aiding African slaves; as well as the Palace of the Inquisition with its macabre prison cells and torture chambers.
Continue to Getseman, the historic bohemian quarter and Cartagena's of-the-moment neighborhood. Pass by vibrant street murals on the way to at El Gobernador by Rausch, one of the few gastronomic restaurants inside the walled city. Chef Viviana Lievano is lauded for her imaginative haute cuisine, and our exclusive tasting menu includes such specialties as lionfish ceviche and posta negra with coconut rice and plantain.
