Exclusive Shore Event: Kotor | Raise a Glass to the Past
Even among the many stunning cities along the Dalmatian Coast, Kotor stands out for its dramatic natural setting and romantic old-town ambiance. Located on Boka Bay, at the bottom of the sharp cliffs of Lovcen Mountain, Kotor's architecture is a mix of various epochs, and its history is closely tied to its proud seafaring legacy. We'll explore on a guided walking tour, stopping at the Cathedral of St. Trifun, a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the town. We'll next visit the Maritime Museum, the custodian of Boka's navy heritage. We'll have an exclusive private tour with the curator, seeing portraits of famous captains, models of old galleys and sailboats, and other artifacts of Kotor's rich maritime past. As part of this Virtuoso Voyages event, we'll join the curator on the museum's private baroque terrace to relax with a glass of wine and hear stories of the city's glory days.
We'll next board our coach and drive along the coast towards the sleepy town of Perast, with graceful buildings dating from the 17th and 18th century. We'll take a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rock, one of two picturesque islets in the bay, and enjoy a seafood-centric lunch at the Regent Porto Montenegro Hotel. Following lunch we will be transported back to the pier.
Approximate Length: 6 hours
Suggested Attire: Casual attire with comfortable walking shoes. There will be moderate to heavy walking in Kotor and Perast as you will be in pedestrian only areas with cobblestones and some inclines and up and down steps (20 steps at the museum). There is a boat ride with several high steps.
