Exclusive Shore Event: Adelaide | Aboriginal Culture and Wine Country
Three special Cultural South Australian experiences will be the highlight of today's Virtuoso Voyager Club Event.
Tandanya is a visionary and vibrant place for all to explore and experience contemporary and traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural expression, through the performing and visual arts. Established 25 years ago in Adelaide, South Australia, Tandanya is Australia's oldest Aboriginal-owned and managed multi-arts centre. The word Tandanya comes from the language of the original inhabitants of the Adelaide plains, the Kaurna people (pronounced Garna), and means "Place of the Red Kangaroo".
As a visitor to Tandanya, you can meet Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, walk through diverse and exciting exhibitions in our art galleries, see our cultural presentation and yidaki (didgeridoo) or dance performance and browse in our colourful award winning Gallery Shop. Tandanya continues to enjoy a national and international reputation for innovation and excellence in visual art exhibitions featuring emerging and acclaimed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from around the country.
We will have morning tea and interact with the indigenous guide and learn about culture.
The Adelaide Botanic Garden is an oasis in the cosmopolitan heart of the city. This 16-hectare historical garden features stunning collections of plants including Australian natives, exotics and ornamental plants. Marvel at the wonders in our diverse gardens including the Wollemi Pine which dates back to the time of dinosaurs, the mysterious Amazonica waterlily which flowers only at night and Australia's oldest avenue of Morton Bay Fig trees.
We continue on to the National Wince Centre. The Wine Discovery Journey is a state-of-the-art, award-winning interactive wine experience. Recently awarded the Best Tourism Initiative 2013 at the Australian Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence, this outstanding Australian wine industry showcase examines everything from the challenges of winemaking to the pure enjoyment of drinking fine Australian wine. The exhibition is where visitors come to understand the role wine has played in history, recognise the position of Australian wine in today's international market and appreciate the relationship between food and wine. The open cellar is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere with the capacity to store up to 38,000 bottles at any one time
Our menu featuring local South Australian produce will delight your tastebuds and provide an opportunity to taste modern Australian cuisine.
