Exclusive Shore Event: Cartagena | Cartagena Highlights and Gastronomic Dinner
We'll begin within the beautiful walled city of Cartagena, where we will wander the cobbled streets and squares lined with stunning colonial architecture, some dating back to the sixteenth century. We'll stop at the Church of San Pedro Claver, which honors the patron saint of slaves, the missionary Peter Claver. Built between 1580 and 1654, this church is a Colombian National Monument and contains numerous historical statues and furnishings as well as the remains of Claver. Next we'll visit the macabre Palace of the Inquisition where we'll see prison cells and torture chambers-the passing of the sentences took place in the public plaza. We'll move on to the diverse Getseman neighborhood, where the lively streets bustle with both foreigners and Colombians; music blares from the houses and walls serve as vibrant galleries for graffiti artists.
We'll finish our adventure with dinner at the festive and atmospheric Bohemia Restaurant, located in the heart of the old city. The gastronomic menu is based on southern European and Colombian cuisine, and the chef works hand-in-hand with farmers and producers around the country to achieve a menu of sustainable, innovative cuisine.
